Our Work
Political Violence Prevention
The January 6th attack on our Capitol laid bare the fragility of our democracy, but the insurrection did not happen in a vacuum. It was the culmination of months and months of threats against voters, election officials, and our democratic institutions. And it showed just how much more needs to be done to address political violence and domestic extremism.
States United is engaging and partnering with state attorneys general, police chiefs, sheriffs, and others in federal, state, and local law enforcement to respond to these unprecedented security threats. From coalition-building to policy development to litigation assistance, States United is here to provide law enforcement leaders with the tools they need to prevent events like those that unfolded on January 6th from happening in our states or in our nation’s capital.
